EAT, SLEEP, POOP X2 - That is what we do !!!

Now that we have had a couple of weeks at home to settle and get into a routine, it is time for the parents to leave. It was really nice having them around to help out with cleaning, cooking and taking care of the kiddos.

Mia and Wes have been sleeping at about 3 to 4 hour intervals, morning, noon and night. Diapers are disappearing faster than flies at a frogs vacation in Ethiopia. Luckily, we have saved a couple of diapers by Mia pooping onto the changing pad while being changed. This was a pretty funny sight watching Diane trying to catch the Poop Fountain with the clean diaper while trying to save the newly changed pad. But, unfortanately, those diapers were countered by the three diapers in a row we went through in five minutes from Wes' business.

If you want to see the babies, just give us a call to let us know when you might be visiting. Everyone is more than welcome. No guarantees that Mia, Wes and Diane will stay awake during the visit though.

Doesn't Reynee take great pictures?

and last but not least, mucho thanks to Andrea Snyder for creating our birth announcements.

Finally Together at Last

After 7+ days in the hospital, Wesley was able to make the long walk home...yes, Diane made him walk because she didnt want him to mess up the car. Luckily, I was in the trailing car and decided to pick him up. He did have to come home on oxygen, but hopefully it will only be a short time until he is truely among the breathing.

The first few nights alone with Mia and my parents went really well. Mia ate when she was supposed to, seldom cried and slept really well. And then....well, lets say opposites attract. Wes on his first night, he fussed incessantly, didn't want to eat nicely (if he could have thrown the bottle at someone he would have), and cried the first three hours in his crib. Lets us all hope he starts to take after his little sister or else I will become just as grumpy as Diane.

The second day together went much better. We thought that since they spent 9 months crammed next to each other, they are used to being that way. So, in Diane's infinite wisdom, she crammed two babies into one bobby. Wahlah...happy babies. I was thinking it must be some type of behavior osmosis or something for it to work in such a short amount of time. Just wish I could patent the idea so we can pay off the NICU bills that will be soon showing up at our door. Another thought came to mind that we should do a temporary change of address and send them to the Nuetzels. Since they have another baby on the way, they wouldn't notice a few more bills.

Colorado Tepen's Double in Size

It took 36 weeks and 3 days, but it finally happened, the Tepen's of Colorado had their twins. We are proud parents of a new boy Wesley Patrick and a new girl Mia Elizabeth.

Wesley Patrick Tepen
(2 1/2 days old in the NICU)

Wesley came into the world weighing 5 lbs 6 oz and measuring 19" long

Mia Elizabeth Tepen
(2 1/2 days old in the hospital room)

Mia weighed 4 lbs 6 oz and measured 18" long

In typical Tepen fashion, the boy just doesnt want to cooperate. The doctors think he is fighting off the beginning of some kind of infection so they put him on an antibiotic drip. He did develop jaundice, so he will probably remain in the NICU until Tuesday or later. He is eating well and his breathing is slowly getting better.

Mia is doing great. She eats like a champ and poops like her mother.

Mom is doing great and hoping to get out of the hospital today. Her blood pressure is still giving her fits, but getting up and running back and forth between the two nurseries and the room doesnt help. I tried to have her get up and walk the half mile to go get me lunch, but she refused and claimed she was too tired for some reason.

So, lets all just hope that we are all back together at the house by next wednesday.

We also wanted to thank Reynee for taking these pictures.
