Singin' the Blues.....

Recently we purchased a totally awesome water slide from Craig's' List. This thing blows up in under 2 minutes but provides hours of fun! We christened the slide on the 4th of July. The kids were a little afraid of it at first. Mia, as usual, warmed up to the new toy in seconds. After her first slide down she was hooked. Wes took a little prodding, but when we broke out the slide again this weekend, he went down like a champ. This is definitely one of our cooler Craig's List purchases. Below are a few pics.....

So about the title.......Our daycare has different fun events every day in the summer for the kids. Every Thursday is "Messy Day". You send your kids in crappy clothes that you don't care about, and they let them do all manner of sticky, slimy, super fun stuff. Recently I came to pick the kids up on a Thursday and they were still on their cots sleeping. The daycare staff informed me that the kids had a lot of fun doing messy day. this statement was followed by lots of laughter. A few minutes later, Wes and Mia awoke......then it became clear what all the fuss was about. My children looked like smurfs! I mean they were stained blue from head to toe. I hope the pictures come across so you can see for yourself......it was a good laugh.

Ohio trip.....ie, sweatfest 2010

Last week the Colorado Tepen's packed up and traveled to Ohio to visit my family and friends. The kids were rock star travelers. They were model children on the plane.....slept nearly the entire plane ride to Ohio, and fell asleep before we even took off on the way back....you can't ask for any better than that!

While in Ohio we visited my mom and dad, my Uncle Joseph(or as the kids call him - JoJo), and my grandmother, who is rimming on being 95 years old. We stayed with my dear friend Sharon and her family(Paul, Katlyn, Austin & Gavin). They have a big fancy new home and there was lots of room for us to stretch out and plenty for the kids to do and play with.

My grandma and uncle entertained Wes and Mia every afternoon with lots of bubble blowing(see pics below). They had a great time running around the yard chasing bubbles. My mom spent several evenings with Wes and Mia, and they love their grandma very much.

While in Ohio I also was able to go to my 20 year high school reunion. It was great to see so many old friends and meet their families. The only downside was that it was soooo hot. Probably 95 degrees the day of the reunion and 85% humidity. I can't remember the last time I felt that hot and stinky! Sorry to all those I dripped sweat on......
My mom was able to come and watch my kids and Sharon's kids so that the adults could go to the evening cocktail hour portion of the reunion. Thanks mom for helping us out :)

We also spent lots of time playing at playgrounds, and Sharon's kids were great helpers in entertaining Wes and Mia......thanks for being so awesome! And a big thanks to Sharon and Paul for feeding us every day and providing us with icy cold beers at the end of every day. We hope we can repay the favor when you come out to see us in Colorado - hint hint!

Overall, a great trip. Although the next time we will have to plan a visit for fall or spring.......I would like to be able to sit outside and visit without basting in my own sweat - yuck!

Please enjoy a few snapshots from our visit :)

The Big Appology

So in order to redeem myself at least a tiny bit with my lovely husband, I am posting this very embarrassing story. The other day, June 24th to be exact, Chris comes home with a card and hands it to me. I have no idea what this card is for.....he urges me to just open it and so after much negotiating back and forth, I finally am convinced to open the card. To my horror it is an anniversary card. Now you're probably asking "what's the big deal about an anniversary card?" Well, normally an anniversary card is a beautiful way to express love to your spouse on your anniversary..........the horrific part is that I completely forgot that it was our anniversary!! In my defense, we had just visited my family and friends in Ohio, and a very common question was "how long have you 2 been married?" And I proclaimed to everyone that it would be 5 years in just a few days.......so it's not like I totally forgot - right? Oh who am I kidding, I'm never gonna live this one down! So to my super fabulous husband of 5 years....I love you :)
